The department of computer science at XIPT offers five programmes for the degree of Bachelor of Science: Computer Science and Technology, Electronic Information Science and Technology, Network Engineering, Microelectronics, and Software Engineering. Also offers three programmes for the degree of Master of Science under the subject of Computer Science and Technology: Computer Application Technology, Computer Software and Theory, and Computer Architecture. There are more than 3000 undergraduate and postgraduate students studying in the department currently.

There are 135 faculty members altogether, including 12 professors, 32 associate professors, and 3 guest professors invited from the academicians of National Academy of Science and National Academy of Engineering. There are 7 labs and 2 R/D centres in the department: Software Engineering lab, Computer Hardware lab, Electronic Science and Technology lab, Network Engineering lab, Computer Software lab, Microelectronics lab, Computer Practical Training lab, ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) Design Centre, and Software Engineering Research Centre. Software Engineering lab and ASIC Design Centre are honoured the key laboratories of Ministry of Information Industry.

The department takes on dozens of projects in recent years which are supported by the Natural Science Foundation, the National 863 High-Tech Research & Development Program, The key technologies R&D program of the tenth five-year plan, etc. and many projects supported by the local governments. The Department has outstanding researching faculty with strong research accomplishments in the fields of:

    * Image Manipulation and Pattern Identification
